Steven Pressley focused on Falkirk

STEVEN Pressley insists he will not lose focus on his job at Falkirk, despite confirming that he is poised for talks with Dundee United.

The Bairns manager is one of a number of candidates under consideration by the Tannadice outfit as they seek a successor to Peter Houston, who will be leaving the club at the end of the season.

United were refused permission to speak to Finland manager Mixu Paatelainen, while former players Derek McInnes and Billy Dodds, and Partick Thistle manager Jackie McNamara have also been linked.

Pressley, whose young side defeated United in last season’s Scottish Communities League Cup quarter-final, has earned a growing reputation working on a shoestring budget at Westfield and, with Houston indicating the prospect of less money was a factor in his decision to leave, United are keen to interview the former Scotland defender.

However, with the Tayside club seemingly casting their net wide for their next manager, the 39-year-old has stressed his contentment with life at Falkirk. Pressley said: “I’m absolutely aware of their interest, but the one thing that is absolutely clear is I haven’t been offered any Dundee United job.

“I’m aware of their interest, but I’m fully focused here. They are very keen to meet me and speak with me on the vacant position, but I’ve been concentrating on what was a big week for us, and I’ll do that again until anything changes.

“I’ve stressed loads of times my happiness here at this football club and that hasn’t changed. I’m very happy here and enjoying my football, and until anything changes that’s how it will remain.”
