SPL season to be extended if Rangers reach UEFA final
THE Clydesdale Bank Premier League season will be extended to May 22 if Rangers reach the UEFA Cup final, the Scottish Premier League have announced.
Walter Smith's men take on Fiorentina in the semi-final of the 2007/08 Uefa Cup on Thursday.
The SPL have drawn up two provisional fixture lists, one to be used in the event of Rangers beating Fiorentina.
Rangers would have to play two league games in three days under both plans, and would have to play the Scottish Cup Final two days after their last league game if they reach the Euro final.
In the event of another Rangers win in Europe, Hibs v Motherwell would be postponed until May 22, to ensure the season finishes for each club at the same time.
