Spartans and Gretna 2008 share spoils

Spartans and Gretna 2008 shared the points in a goal-less draw in a game of few opportunities in the Central Taxis Premier Division last night.

Douglas Samuel, the Spartans manager, said: “It was an extremely tight affair on a difficult, bumpy pitch with a slight wind and a bit of rain. I think that both teams defended well on the night and it was a stuffy game in which I’m not sure if either side did enough to win it.

“We won a point on the road and it is a point more towards achieving our target.

“We have never said it would be easy to win the title because we are up against a lot of 
good teams. That was probably our toughest away fixture 
that we have played all season so far.”
