HibERNIAN striker Akpo Sodje looks set to become the fourth player to leave Easter Road this month after being given permission to go on trial at Belgian top-flight club KVC Westerlo.

The much-travelled Londoner is looking to impress the relegation-threatened side in training in the hope of landing a deal.

Hibs are unlikely to demand a fee for a player that has made only four substitute appearances since manager Pat Fenlon’s appointment in November, with Sodje’s cameo outing in the 7 January Scottish Cup win at Cowdenbeath potentially his last for the club.

Colin Calderwood signed the 31-year-old on an 18-month deal last January and the marksman has gone on to feature 31 times for Hibs.

Sodje netted six goals at the end of last season but has largely been considered a squad player this term.

Fenlon is also reported to be running the rule over Arsenal striker Rhys Murphy with English Championship outfit Derby said to have rejected a loan approach for Scotland cap Chris Maguire.

You heard it here months ago...... Sodje, Thornhill, Palsson, and Agoggo were utter mince... I told you that they would not last.... even at Hibs. Truly awful players, soon to be joined by O'Hanlon, Hart, Murray, and Towell. And to think some of you mocked when I foretold of their future........ tsk tsk.

I think Hibs getting the loan of an Arsenal reserve is about the summit of our expectaions right now. You only have to note that Dundee Utd can't afford more than £25,000 for Imrie at Hamilton as St Mirren are about to steal him for a fewuid more and Rangers can't find £300,000 for Sandaza to see how far into the pit Scottish football has dropped. On the other hand you could pour players in on big money like Dundee once did and Hearts have currently and that can only lead to Disaster when reality grips. Truth is Hibs more than likely won't manage to attract an Arsenal reserve as I'm afraid Scottish Football at the moment is as about as attractive proposition for players as being invited in for a coffee by Susan Boyle after a night out! That being said, the only players that are attracted are either not wanted down south or past their sell by dates!!

#1 Safe Harbour. I realise that you are not a man given to obvious humour, but this has to rank down there as one of your strangest ever comments. Why did you not just advocat Hibs pressing for a swap deal with Arsenal? Surely, with Thierry Henry on there for a few short weeks, a swap of Sodje for Murphy would interest Arsenal?

He looks like an impressive sort of chap. It's surprising that to date, Hibs cull is bigger than Hearts cull. Or as big anyway.

Murphy has been an ever present for Arsenal this season keeping the likes of van Persie and Walcott out of the first team. Interesting that he sees Hibs as a step up in his career.
