Slap in the Facebook for Craig Levein

MORE than 13,000 Scotland fans have made their feelings abundantly clear by “liking” a Facebook page titled: “Craig Levein for the sack”.

The page, which was set up in the aftermath of the national side’s dismal 1-1 draw with Macedonia, broke the 10,000-mark within ten hours, with thousands of fans venting their anger.

As of last night, 13,511 Scotland fans had registered their support for the page, with hundreds of punters also putting forward their own preferred candidates, including Gordon Strachan, Walter Smith and Owen Coyle. Bookmakers have been equally swift to put forward potential options as Levein’s successor.

Despite the current incumbent still being in the job, Scottish firm McBookie are offering odds on a plethora of candidates who could be approached if the SFA dismiss Levein.

Former Scotland managers Alex McLeish and Walter Smith, both currently out of work, are among the early favourites, at 3/1 and 5/1 respectively. Gordon Strachan is available at 4/1. Billy Davies and Livingston director of football John Collins have also been inserted into the early running, at 7/1.
