Second Division: Queens take another step towards title
A roundup of the latest results from the Second Division
Queen of the South 2, Ayr United 0
Queens extended their lead at the top with this win over Ayr, who had an early let-off when a shot from Chris Higgins struck the post.
Derek Lyle made the breakthrough seconds from half-time when he headed in a cross from Danny Carmichael, who also set up the second for Gavin Reilly on the hour.
East Fife 0, Arbroath 1
Paul Sheerin missed the chance to give Arbroath a half-time advantage when his 35th-minute penalty was saved by Michael Brown.
Brown continued to deny Arbroath – saving from Alex Keddie and Graham Bayne.
But Bayne hit an 85th-minute winner.
Stenhousemuir 1, Alloa Athletic 1
John Gemmell was denied by Scott Bain early on as Stenhousemuir pressed – but it was Alloa who took the lead through a Ryan McCord penalty midway through the first half.
However Darren Smith equalised for Stenhousemuir after 69 minutes, with Jamie Reid providing the decisive pass.
Stranraer 3, Albion Rovers 2
David Crawford gave Albion a sixth-minute lead and Pat Walker headed a second.
Stranraer pulled a goal back when Craig Malcolm netted. Malcolm equalised with a header before completing his hat-trick in 74 minutes.
Albion’s Kevin Green was sent off for two bookings.
