AMATEUR side Golspie Sutherland have been sent a round trip of more than 500 miles for the second season running after being paired with hosts Hawick Royal Albert in the draw for the first round of the William Hill Scottish Cup.

Last season Golspie travelled all the way to Gala only to lose 5-2.

Highland League sides Formartine United and Turriff United, who are playing in the competition for the first time, have been handed home ties against Brora Rangers and Burntisland Shipyard respectively.

Emirates Junior Cup winners Shotts make their bow at home to Edinburgh City with North Junior champions Hermes, who are also making their initial appearance, facing Deveronvale.

The sponsors unveiled their odds for the competition following the draw.

Celtic are the 4/5 favourites to lift the cup, while Hearts are 8/1 with the sponsors to retain their crown.

“The first round draw has thrown up some very juicy ties,’’ said William Hill spokesman Tony Kenny, “and we just can’t wait for the action to get under way.”

Newco Rangers join Aberdeen and Hibernian as 14/1 shots, while Dundee United are at 8/1 and Motherwell 12/1.
