Scotland v Wales: Joe Ledley is a man to beware

FORMER Scotland skipper Stephen McManus has warned Gordon Strachan to beware of Joe Ledley.

The former Celtic defender watched the Welsh midfielder score two goals in the 5-0 rout over Dundee at Parkhead last month and, despite all the fuss over Gareth Bale, he has pinpointed Ledley as the main danger man tonight.

McManus said: “I thought Ledley was excellent throughout that day. I’m not just talking about his creativity, but also his work-rate, hunger and desire to drive the team on.

“Sometimes a midfielder is a little hesitant to hit the box, but Joe is there at every opportunity.

“A player like that is very difficult to defend against, whether you’re in the back four or a midfielder trying to track a runner.”

The 30-year-old McManus, who has won 26 caps, is still hoping to get the nod from his ex-Celtic and Middlesbrough manager Strachan. He added: “We’ll just have to wait and see.”
