GORDON Strachan is believed to be top of the list to replace Wolves boss Stale Solbakken if results don’t improve in the immediate future.

Strachan has been out of management and working as a TV pundit since leaving Middlesborough in 2010. He is the favourite for the vacant Scotland job, but bosses at Molineux are believed to see him as an ideal replacement manager.

Wolves are currently 18th in the Championship, and Solbakken has faced increasingly vocal complaints from fans just six months into his tenure. Police are investigating after his car was vandalised earlier this week.

The news comes just days after Joe Jordan, another of the supposed front-runners for the Scotland post, joined Harry Redknapp at QPR, with the former Spurs boss commenting that it was ‘up to Joe’ to decide if he wanted a part in the Scotland setup.

SFA chief Stewart Regan has said that the governing body will not rush the appointment of a new boss, and that they are confident that the right manager will be available at the right time.
