Referee ‘bias’ claim costs Roberto Martinez £10k

Wigan manager Roberto Martinez has been fined £10,000 for criticising the referee after his side’s loss to Manchester United last month. The Spaniard was frustrated after his side’s 4-0 defeat, during which England striker Danny Welbeck was awarded a controversial penalty.

Speaking after the match, Martinez said: “I have come to United three times before today and, for whatever reason, we don’t seem to be measured in the same manner as the team at home.”
