THE chances of a restructured Scottish league system including ‘colt teams’ from Celtic and Rangers appear to be dead in the water.
The news comes following a meeting between the Scottish Football League and the Scottish Premier League held on Tuesday.
Representatives from both league bodies met to discuss details of the 12-12-18 league structure, thought to be the preferred model.
Longmuir’s initial suggestion of a four-tiered 12-12-10-10 structure, including reserve sides competing in the lowest division, was not part of yesterday’s meeting, after a number of SFL clubs voiced their concerns about the plans.
SPL clubs are set to vote on the 12-12-18 league structure on April 15.
