Partick Thistle 2 - 1 Cowdenbeath: Jags make it six wins in a row

THISTLE made it six wins in a row with much more comfort than the scoreline suggests.

Aaron Muirhead’s penalty was briefly cancelled out by Jamie Stevenson’s spectacular strike but Scott Linton’s own goal provided Partick with the points.

Thistle dominated from the start but had to exercise patience against a well-organised Blue Brazil defence.

However, the pressure paid off in 25 minutes when Chris Erskine, having skipped over two tackles, was upended in the box by a third despairing lunge. Muirhead, above, did an expert job from the spot to give Tom Flynn no chance.

Christie Elliot headed wide then Steven Lawless went close with two efforts, and Thistle were punished for failing to convert these when the visitors scored, Stevenson producing a sensational 30-yard shot which flew high into the net. But the Jags were back in front when Linton could only divert Aaron Sinclair’s drilled cross into his own net.
