Nacho Novo 'could face disciplinary action over Aberdeen behaviour'

RANGERS striker could face disciplinary action after it was reported that the Scottish Football Association are investigating his behaviour following the Glasgow club's 1-0 defeat at Aberdeen.

• Nacho Novo gestures after Rangers lost to Aberdeen on Saturday

Press Association Sport says it understands that Novo, who is at the centre of a police investigation over an incident following the Clydesdale Bank Premier League match, could now face an SFA improper conduct charge.

The Spaniard was photographed making a gesture as he walked off the Pittodrie pitch on Saturday.

The 30-year-old was also pictured with his shorts lowered beneath his buttocks but it is the alleged finger gesture that is more likely to land him with an SFA charge.

The SFA will convene a review panel if they decide the evidence warrants formal disciplinary procedures.

Celtic goalkeepers Artur Boruc and Lukasz Zaluska have both been fined 500 for making gestures to opposition fans in recent seasons, the latter while with Dundee United.

Meanwhile, Grampian Police are continuing their probe into Saturday's incident.

Chief Inspector George MacDonald said in a statement today: "Our enquiries with members of the public are being progressed at the moment.

"Once they have been completed and any relevant evidence gathered, we will then be in touch with both clubs involved to make an assessment on how to progress the investigation."
