McLaughlin an instant hit
Stirling Albion 1 Fraser (31)
Morton 2 Walker (30), McLaughlin (83)
SCOTT McLaughlin became an instant hero as he swept Morton into the semi-final of the Bell's Cup last night.
McLaughlin was on loan with Morton last season but returned to Livingston in the summer. However, after failing to win a place he was brought back to the Greenock club hours before the signing deadline. Seven minutes from time he sent the Morton fans into raptures as he fired in his first goal for the club in their win over Stirling to clinch a place in today's draw as the only Second Division side alongside St Mirren, Hamilton and St Johnstone.
Jason Walker drove Morton ahead but Stirling hit back when as midfielder John Fraser sent a 30-yard drive high into the net. Just as the tie looked set for extra-time McLaughlin, on as a substitute, clipped in the winner.
