Magpies fly in to take on Capital clubs

Newcastle United Women
face an Edinburgh double header this weekend when
they take on Spartans and Hutchison Vale ahead of the new FA Women’s Premier League season.

While the English girls are looking to prepare for the new term, it’s a different story
altogether for the Capital clubs, who are already halfway through their respective
campaigns.

Both teams have struggled this year and aim to use their games against Newcastle as a platform to build upon for an improved second half of the season.

Newcastle take on Spartans
at Ainslie Park tomorrow (kick-off 1.00pm) before facing Hutchison Vale 24 hours later at Saughton Enclosure (kick-off 3.00pm).

Spartans coach Debbi McCulloch commented: “This game will help us focus our shape
and style of play against
a team that we know little about.

“It will be a fantastic challenge for our girls to play against top opposition.”

Hutchison Vale boss Ian
McDonald is also looking
forward to facing the Magpies, saying: “It is a testament
to how far we have come
in the last few years to be
playing such great opposition as Newcastle.

“Hopefully, it’s an enjoyable weekend for the clubs and will lead to a return fixture in the future.”
