Livingston 2-3 Dumbarton: Dumbarton win in ‘thriller’ match

TEN-man Dumbarton held on for a stunning win after a five-goal thriller.

Dumbarton manager Ian Murray pulled off a pre-match surprise, unveiling former Hearts and 40-times capped Scotland goalkeeper Craig Gordon as part of his coaching staff. The 30-year-old has been out of football since being released by Sunderland in May, 2012.

And Gordon couldn’t fail to be impressed by Dumbarton’s spectacular opener after four minutes, when Scott Agnew played the ball out to the right for Paul McGinn. His cross picked out Bryan Prunty, 12 yards out, and the striker brilliantly chested the ball down before sending an overhead kick soaring high into the net.

Livingston levelled in 22 minutes when Iain Russell drilled the ball across for Jordan Morton to tap in from a yard out. The Sons went back in front one minute later when goalkeeper Andy McNeil dropped a cross for Andy Graham to tap into the empty net. Livi squared matters again in first-half stoppage time when goalkeeper Jamie Ewings felled Russell, and the striker scored the resultant penalty. Dumbarton got the winner in 70 minutes when Agnew netted from the spot after Kyle Jacobs upended Prunty.

The Sons were reduced to ten men after 80 minutes when Mark Gilhaney was shown a straight red card for time-wasting while he was being substituted.
