Linlithgow are going goal crazy

HOLDERS Linlithgow Rose have already scored 18 goals in their opening Dechmont Forklift Truck league Cup ties and more are expected tomorrow against Harthill.

Even more pleasing for manager Mark Bradley is the fact that they have conceded just once in those three games and the boss says: “We’re kicking off nicely this season.

“We have addressed the leaking-goals issue which hit us badly last year. It makes my job easier when the players are doing their job and helping each other when required. The defence is improving in every game and the goals are flowing. We started with the main aim to keep our focus on our attitude this year. We had a terrible time last season when our attitude in some games let us down.”

Bo’ness had no game midweek due to the funeral of past President Dougie Sneddon. Manager Paul Ronald has high hopes of getting the points at Armadale, however, saying: “I would like to thank everyone for the terrific turnout for Dougie Sneddon’s funeral. It was great to see that everyone respected what he did for the club. It was also nice to see our biggest rivals well represented and the club thanks them.

“As for Armadale, well they have proved in the past to be a tough side to beat. It’s a small narrow pitch and they will test us severely. We’ve had a good pre season with good wins over Pollok and Ashfield and we’d like that form to continue.”

Newtongrange are going great guns now after the opening draw at Arniston with the scalp of Super League side Musselburgh under their belts and the stage is set for another tough game when they face newly promoted Dalkeith. Dalkeith will fancy their chances this season having won the South Division title last year and strengthening the squad.

Elsewhere, Haddington have a derby against Tranent while Arniston face Dunbar in the same section. Bathgate are at home to Falkirk with Sauchie playing Camelon. Pumpherston are home to Edinburgh with Penicuik at Spartans. Fauldhouse play Blackburn and West Calder are home to Stoneyburn.
