Jordan Rhodes stays patient after goal No 6
Scotland striker Jordan Rhodes concedes Tuesday’s strike for Blackburn in front of Craig Levein might make no difference to his chances of starting against Wales next month.
Rhodes scored his third goal – taking his tally for the season to six – in three games in the 2-1 win over Barnsley with national team manager Levein watching from the stands.
Rhodes, who will lead the line for Rovers against Middlesbrough tonight, said: “It’s nice for the Scotland manager to come down and show interest. It’s nice to score any goal and just to see the ball hit the net on Tuesday was really pleasing. I’m pleased that I managed to get on the scoresheet while he was watching. But I’m still young and there are plenty of good players for him to choose from, so I’m not counting on anything just yet.”
Blackburn manager Steve Kean, insists the £8 million spent on Rhodes last month was an investment. Kean said: “If he can score 20 goals we’ll make money We don’t want to sell him. We want to be getting back into the Premier League and having him scoring goals in the division above.”
