Jonny Hayes says Inverness skipper was right to confront him

Inverness CALEY winger Jonny Hayes admitted he deserved a public rebuke from captain Richie Foran during the 3-1 Scottish Cup replay win at Dunfermline.

After Andy Barrowman had put the Pars ahead, Hayes equalised following defensive mistakes from the home side. Shortly afterwards Hayes and Foran had to be separated by referee Euan Norris, who booked both players.

Hayes accepted Foran was right to confront him. “I probably shouldn’t have spoken back to the skipper like that.”

Extra-time strikes from Andrew Shinnie and Greg Tansey secured a home tie against holders Celtic.
