CALEY Thistle stepped up pre-season preparations with an impressive 3-1 victory over the English League One side. A Richie Foran penalty and strikes from Billy McKay and Jason Oswell made it five friendly wins in a row for Terry Butcher’s men.
A tremendous Andrew Shinnie run created the opener. Billy McKay, collecting the loose ball close in, saw his attempt blocked by the stray hand of William Edjenguele and Foran beat keeper Joe Murphy with the penalty.
In 50 minutes Graeme Shinnie unleashed a 25-yard rocket which Murphy spilled and McKay raced in to score from the rebound.
Shaun Jeffers worked a one-two with Car Baker and scored, but home sub Jason Oswell restored the advantage in stoppage time.
