Highland League: Nairn snatch late cup win
Nairn County snatched a dramatic 2-1 victory against Wick Academy in North of Scotland Cup.
Robbie Duncanson scored after six minutes and the crowd were then treated to countless chances from both sides. However, Wick’s equaliser arrived in 77 minutes when Richard Macadie’s free-kick was tipped over the bar by keeper Calum Donaldson but Craig Shearer scrambled the ball home, sending the game into extra time. Substitute John Cameron powered the winner in from ten yards in the 102nd minute.
In the league, Cove Rangers cemented their advantage at the top with a 5-0 thrashing of visitors Rothes. Huntly moved second at Fort William where Andrzej Kleczkowski’s late strike sealed the points.
Inverurie Locos staged a stunning fightback from 2-0 down to win 3-2 away to champions Forres with Neil Gauld claiming the winner.
Buckie won through 2-0 at home to Turriff while Formartine’s steady progress under Steve Paterson continued with a 3-2 victory at Fraserburgh.
Lossiemouth claimed their first points of the season with a 1-0 victory over Strathspey while Brora thrashed Deveronvale 4-1.
