Highland League: Cove hit summit

COVE Rangers carved out a three-point lead at the top of the Highland League beating nine-man Clach 3-2. The Inverness visitors lost Bruce Milne and Struan Scott-Woodhouse to late red cards.

Jamie Beagrie broke the deadlock after 28 minutes for Cove and Martin Johnston hit the second only three minutes later. But Clach hit back through Gordy Morrison’s reply from the spot after 53 minutes.

Danny Milne extended the Cove lead to 3-1 after 74 minutes, but Paul Brindle replied five minutes later to keep Clach’s hopes alive.

Tempers flared at the close but Clach hung on.
