Hibs take control of derby tickets
HIBERNIAN have taken the unusual step of assuming control of the sale of tickets to Hearts’ travelling support for the next Edinburgh derby, amid suggestions directors are concerned they may struggle to get money from their financially-stricken rivals.
The Easter Road club already sell briefs to away fans for matches against Celtic and Rangers following a dispute over the Old Firm’s attempts to charge a 5 per cent levy for their role in the process.
However, the move to issue tickets direct to Hearts supporters for the 2 January meeting is an exceptional one and comes at a time when the Gorgie outfit have admitted they are struggling with cash flow worries. Having had to wait 19 days for their October salaries, the first-team squad at Tynecastle are still awaiting their November pay that was due on the 16th of the month, with the recent settlement of a £1 million tax bill being partly blamed for the problems.
Both Edinburgh clubs announced the ticketing arrangements simultaneously yesterday, with officials stressing both parties had approved the move. But if it is understood Hearts’ financial situation was a consideration, Hibs managing director Fife Hyland refused to be drawn, insisting: “Operationally, it’s in line with all our other category A games and it has been done with the agreement of both clubs.”
Tickets went on sale yesterday, with Hearts fans restricted to one per person.

Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at 03:34 PMThe only reason Hibs have taken control of their income is because if Hearts get their money Hibs become a creditor.Hearts need cash flow and Hibs would be waiting and waiting and waiting for their gate money.Hibs directors are not stupid when it comes to looking after their interests. Its happened before and Hibs will be aware of these precedents. It signals a lack of confidence in Hearts finances and their ability to pay up.Enter the players as an example of their present financial fragility.

Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at 02:11 PM24# De V, I think there will have been a great deal of consideration before deciding to go ahead with this, We will endure extra costs administering a sale on a 1 per basis, The facts as to why Hibernian have taken this action are not available but I doubt very much that there is any malice in the action what so ever, There may be something historical but there are no accusations coming from within either party so we as the mere fan will have to endure.

Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at 01:08 PM#20, 21 - And the proof is in the pudding, or not as this case may be. "amid suggestions " - suggestions, not fact. The heading is fact. Hibs do take control of tickets. Their choice. Good to see the "family" club are supporting their neighbours in their time of strife. I hope this is remebered. Maybe hearts should do the same when Hibs make their forever failing trip to Tynecastle? I will be there anyway to rub-in the inevitable hammering that you will be subjected to...again. How long has it been now Tommy since you guys won against Hearts? How many managers ago was that? Have you even got any of the same players that last tasted victory against the might JT's? So many questions, so few answers

Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at 12:28 PMWhatever the intricacies this is an embarrassing episode and will cost Hibernian due to fans being unwilling to give us money direct coupled with 1 per person (I strongly hope exception can be made for less able support ) There is no longer any mirth in the situation currently afflicting gorgie.

Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at 10:11 AMtut tut ToTT. Engaging with the idiot, you should know better ha ha. Giving Hibs the ticket responsibility is maybe not the best idea following their £5k ticket fraud fiasco at the empty san giro. Hearts fans only allowed to buy 1 ticket per person is a tad on the fascist side. Nevermind, probably ER's biggest attendance of the season when the Jambos come down for the regular pumping of the hiberiacs. Cant wait to extend the run!
