Hibs Ladies braced for tough test against Forfar Farmington

HIBERNIAN Ladies’ boss Willie Kirk is full of respect for the way opponents Forfar Farmington have broken into the top four this season, but he is anticipating a strong finish to the campaign from his side – starting with three points tomorrow.

The Hibees are aiming to strengthen their grip on second place in the SWPL table and victory in their fixture at Albyn Park, Broxburn (kick-off 2.00pm) would end the visitors’ hopes of overtaking them.

Kirk said: “At the start of the season I said Forfar were good enough to break into the top four and that’s the way it’s turned out. But we have an exciting run-in from now until the end of the season and are more than capable of winning all our remaining matches.”

• Elsewhere, Spartans aim to arrest their poor form when they face fellow strugglers Aberdeen at Aberdeen Sports Village (kick-off 2.00pm).

Head coach Debbie McCulloch said: “It’ll be an extremely tough task because they are a good side. The journey up the road is long and the last time we played them the pitch wasn’t in great condition. However, we have had two good weeks in training and after losing the last few games we hope to pick up the three points.”

• Meanwhile Hutchison Vale manager Ian McDonald believes it’s now or never for his side as they aim to finish best of the rest when as they prepare to face Hamilton Academical at Saughton Enclosure (kick-off 2.00pm).

He said: “It’s now between ourselves and Hamilton to decide who finishes top of the bottom six and tomorrow’s fixture is undoubtedly pivotal.”
