Hearts finally pay players and manager after delay

SIX Hearts players and manager John McGlynn received their overdue wages first thing this morning, the Evening News can reveal.
Club officials processed salaries shortly before 7.30am to bring everyone on the club’s payroll up to date following last week’s delay. A delay in receipt of revenues has been blamed for the hold-up, with Hearts reluctant to divulge further details ahead of today’s SPL meeting at Hampden Park.
A disciplinary sub-committee will discuss whether further sanctions should be applied to the Edinburgh club following problems paying September’s wages on time.
The SPL have already imposed an indefinite transfer embargo on Hearts and will meet on a separate date to discuss October’s delay, with the possibility of further punishment for that breach of rules. Fines and/or a suspended sanction are options open to the SPL, although a points deduction is unlikely. Hearts are confident there will be no more issues paying employees on time following delays in each of the last two months, both related to unexpected problems receiving external revenues.
McGlynn and his players received all outstanding monies this morning and, following yesterday’s 1-0 win over Motherwell, the manager stressed no-one in his dressing room was concerned about the latest delay. “At the end of the day, it was a few players who didn’t get paid. It never at any time caused any issue,” he said.
“It was really more a media frenzy than anything else made by the media wanting to make a big thing out of something. The players never complained at all about it and it was shown yesterday that there were no issues whatsoever. I had confirmation that everything would be clarified and sorted out today. I don’t think you saw the players
going begging round the stands yesterday. There wasn’t an issue at any time.
“The players went out and won the football match yesterday. I’m delighted with how they went about things and I love working with them. Their attitude is fantastic and they are a great bunch to work with. They are also very good football players so I couldn’t be happier at this moment in time. Football revolves around winning matches and winning yesterday’s game means absolutely everything.”
