Harry Redknapp says it would not be easy to leave Tottenham

Harry Redknapp admits he would consider taking the England manager’s job but insists he will not be able to combine the role with his current position as Tottenham boss.

The Football Association are meeting today to draw up a shortlist for the vacant position after Fabio Capello resigned on Wednesday.

The FA are keen to appoint an English or British manager, and Redknapp is overwhelming favourite for the position.

The 64-year-old, who has taken Tottenham from relegation candidates to title contenders in little over three years, was keen to emphasise again today that he is only thinking about his current job at Spurs but admitted he would consider replacing Capello if the FA came calling.

Redknapp said: “It wouldn’t be easy (leaving Spurs). It would be very difficult.

“I’m happy, but if the opportunity comes, and I get asked, I’ll have to consider it.”

I make regular trips to Glasgow to see football and family.I am also a season ticket holder at Tottenham and have been for many years. If Harry was to leave Tottenham which I think he will I will be gutted. Why?because I have honestly seen some of the most pleasing on the eye football I have seen in a long, long time.(since gascoine and lineker). He has also brought the youngsters through. Now there is a lot of money swimming around the premier league and the revenue want as much as they can get.So next time Harry take the head of the revenue out for a good meal throw in a couple of opera tickets,a holiday abroad and hey presto you'll get a few million knocked off your tax bill and avoid prosecution....Now as for Scottish footbal...well..how long have you got?

I absolutely love old 'arry and I hope he is appointed and leads England to success in the Euros. Lived in England for 4 years and loved every minute of it. "arry is a champion and I hope he can win the EPL this season as well as get the England job.

#20 You must lead such a tormented life knowing that England and the English really get to you. Living your sad life over things that happened hundred of years ago.

I am a proud Scot but the nonsense written here by what can only be described as weegie scm beggars belief. You are the wnkrs that will vote for independance because all you think about is to "hate" england and all they stand for. Same as that wee fat fck salmon showing utter contempt when he shook the english captains hand at the calcutta cup last weekend - pure scm. HR is a damn good manager, a popular guy - so what if he was found NOT GUILTY of tax evation - good on him how many of you weegie scm are claiming all the benefits you can (from Westminster) and not paying any taxes as you are unemployable yet written absolute drivel about HR. Personally I hope he doesn't take the job but finishes what he has started with Spurs but if he does he would have my backing 100% as a great manager and an all round good guy. Get real you lot.

#18 And they truly would believe that he would win them the World Cup. Put the fat controller in goal the ball would never get past him into the net.

Harry Redknapp has confirmed that he's OK to handle the Euros this summer - so long as they're unmarked and untraceable.

#11 Well that explains why the Scots are never there then and what you have got end up in the EPL. You could not muster up a five a side team.

Yes, 'scarlett1', Harry Redknapp WILL definitely earn millions, what he definitely WONT do is WIN the World Cup or the Euros - he's restricted to picking English players.

#9 It does not take much when it comes to Scottish Football. Even the Fat Controller Salmond pestering the BBC to get on a sport show it is so comical you could not make it up if you tried.
