NEITHER side was able to create any clear chances in the opening stages, but Craigroyston started the second half well, Sammy Hassan and Lloyd Dignan forcing good saves from home keeper Alex Mitchell. Gretna broke the deadlock just before the interval in extra time when Ian Cumersky broke from midfield and set up Carmichael who finished well past Craig Weir. That proved enough but but Curtis Wood was sent off late on.

Whitehill Welfare 0 Vale of Leithen 1

A SUPERB individual goal from Aaron Somerville after quarter of an hour won this game for Vale. Darren Gillon won possession in midfield and slipped a pass to Somerville, who drove into the area before placing a low shot into the corner of the net. Vale were reduced to ten men eight minutes into the second half when substitute Steven Dongo struck an opponent, but the numbers were even again 13 minutes later when the home side's Allan Cornet picked up his second booking.

PRESTON could have been ahead in the opening quarter had a couple of narrow offside decisions gone their way. Midway through the half, Selkirk's Michael Romanes came on for the injured Grant Gass and had an immediate impact. In the 27th minute, he whipped a low cross into the box. The ball deflected off Matt Costello at the near post and trickled into the net. Two minutes later, Romanes headed in a second after getting on the end of Lee Stephen's cross. In the 36th minute, Alan Jackson played a lay-off in front of the Preston box and Romanes blasted in from 15 yards to complete a shock ten-minute onslaught.

Coldstream 3 Tynecastle 4

COLDSTREAM caretaker manager Mark Lamb, who resigned as Spartans Juniors manager last week, could not prevent the bottom club suffering their ninth league defeat of the season. Paul Devlin gave Tynecastle the lead from close range before he converted a Wayne Sproule cross. Just before half-time, a free-kick from David Brown brought Coldstream back into contention but an own goal restored Tynecastle's two-goal advantage before John Crawford reduced the leeway. Sproule scored to seal Tynecastle's win although Crawford notched his second in stoppage time.

Easthouses Lily 7 Ormiston 1

STUART LOVE gave the home side the lead in the 14th minute with a low shot from the edge of the area. Ryan Curran increased the lead in the 18th minute. Easthouses went further ahead when Steven Enwood handled the ball in the box three minutes later. David Edgar converted the penalty. Ormiston reduced the deficit in the 25th minute through Jason Young. William Kidd headed the Lily's fourth and Ryan Curran made it five in the 40th minute. Further goals by Ross Gaylor in the 71st minute and Ryan Curran in the 80th minute, giving him his hat-trick, completed the rout.

LEITH opened the scoring after four minutes when Chris Beaton scored from the rebound after Simmons had saved Campbell's penalty. He added a second after 20 minutes, bundling the ball home from close range. Athletic added a third goal three minutes later when Euan Campbell gave Simmons no chance with a terrific angular shot from 20 yards. Shortly afterwards, McGowan took over for the injured Simmons in the Peebles goal. Beaton notched up his hat-trick with a close-range header in 27 minutes. They went nap in the 38th minute, Beaton grabbing his fourth from 14 yards. Leith made it six a minute into injury time, Jamie Lauder tapping in from close range. Leith were in seventh heaven eight minutes after half-time when Greg Irvine converted a Thom cross. Andy Milligan made it eight with a crisp, angular shot two minutes later and Leith were on cloud nine on the hour mark when Irvine raced into the Peebles box and coolly slotted home. Leith made it ten after 74 minutes when Martyn Wallace converted a corner and it was 11 four minutes later when Euan Campbell scored with a crisp shot on the turn. It was 12 after 84 minutes when substitute Rory Stewart lashed the ball home from six yards.
