Falkirk 1 - 1 Airdrie: Bairns still in search of first victory

Falkirk are still seeking a first home league win of the season after this draw left Steven
Pressley’s side 13 points adrift of leaders Partick.

The Bairns got off to an encouraging start when Stewart Murdoch dispatched a 35th-minute penalty but Alan Cook levelled in the 65th minute. It was another frustrating afternoon for the home fans with Falkirk collecting just a point from three opening matches on their own patch.

Following the early sparring, referee Steven McLean had no choice but to award a penalty when Falkirk striker Sean Higgins was brought crashing to the ground after a clumsy challenge from Airdrie captain David Lilley.

Murdoch slammed a shot into the left-hand corner of the net, but Airdrie rescued a point when the unmarked Cook was rewarded for anticipating a deep cross from Nathan Blockley when he slid in to divert the ball home.
