Euro 2012: Italy ask Uefa to step in over booing of anthem

The Italian football federation has sent a letter to Uefa seeking sanctions after the country’s national anthem was again booed at Euro 2012.

Loud whistles emanated from Croatian fans during the anthem before Thursday’s 1-1 draw. Spain fans also whistled – ahead of the opening Group C match with Italy, also a 1-1 draw and Italian delegation head Demetrio Albertini wrote to Uefa general secretary Gianni Infantino reminding him of the governing body’s “sport values”.
