Driver looks likely to be left out in the cold by Burley for Wales clash

ANDREW DRIVER is set to be overlooked by Scotland boss George Burley for the friendly against Wales.

It is understood the Hearts and England Under-21 star will not be handed a call-up because he has yet to declare a desire to switch allegiance from England to Scotland. It is understood that is Scotland boss Burley's condition, despite pressure to include the highly-rated winger.

Burley, who reveals his squad on Thursday for the friendly in Cardiff on 14 November, has faced criticism for expecting Driver to make the first move.

Driver's position completely contrasts with that of Burley – he believes the Scotland manager should declare an interest first before he makes a final decision.

Last month the player stated: "I haven't been picked yet and can't expect to walk into a national team just because of a change of rules."

Driver, 21, moved north with his parents at an early age and played for the Scotland schoolboys team in 2002. But the lack of even a Scottish grandparent meant that he couldn't be considered for a full cap until FIFA's rule change.

Meanwhile, ex-Chelsea star Jody Morris insists he wouldn't rule out the possibility of playing for Scotland.

Morris has also featured for England Under-20s but has a Scots grandad and would be interested in switching allegiance now that he's revived his career with St Johnstone.

The midfielder, 30, believes he could force his way into the reckoning if he continues his rich run of form in Perth.

Morris, who recently signed a new deal through to 2012, said: "I have family in Scotland and my grandad comes from Glasgow. Playing for Scotland is something I would think about now."
