Cove go top on their own

Goals from Danny Milne, Jamie Beagrie and Martin Johnston saw Cove Rangers move three points clear at the top with a 3-2 victory over pre-match joint leaders Clach.

Milne, Cove’s top scorer for the last three seasons, tucked away the Aberdeen side’s decisive third goal and is hoping to better last season’s 27-goal total.

“I’m hoping to reach 30 this time” he explained. “But as long as the team are scoring and doing well, I’m happy.”

Elsewhere, Steve Paterson’s Formartine hammered hosts Fort William 5-1 to lead a pack of four joint-second-placed sides on goal difference.

A Ryan Broadhurst own goal at Inverurie moved
Deveronvale into the chasing group alongside Nairn County, who secured a 1-1 draw away to Buckie.

Scott Barbour struck twice as Fraserburgh won 3-0 at Brora, where new manager Davie
Kirkwood took charge of the hosts for the first time.

Huntly hammered a poor Strathspey 7-1 at Christie Park, while Rothes held visiting
Turriff to a 2-2 draw and Wick ran out 5-3 winners at home to Lossiemouth.
