Changing room chat: SFA recognises referees’ servce

THE SFA has recognised the century of service that whistlers Bob Valentine and Kenny Hope have given the game in Scotland, with president Campbell Ogilvie hosting luncheons with recently retired men in black and their wives.

Valentine began in 1961 and went on to referee seven major cup finals as well as at the 1982 World Cup and the 1984 and 1988 European Championships. Hope also began his career in 1961 and served 17 seasons as a Class 1 ref and handled the 1987 Scottish Cup final between St Mirren and Dundee United.
