A BROTHEL owner is the newest sponsor of a cash-strapped Greek football team.

As austerity measures bite, Yiannis Batziolas, chairman of Voukefalas of the A1 amateur league, turned to the local brothel owner for help.

“We had a very serious financial problem, so I thought: ‘Why not?’” said Batziolas.

Soula Alevridou, a 67-year-old woman who owns three luxury brothels, agreed and the players now flaunt pink shorts and T-shirts emblazoned with her brothels’ logos, including “Villa Erotica”.
