Celtic defender Gary Caldwell says hard work on training pitch now paying off

CELTIC defender Gary Caldwell believes his side's recent run of good form is down to hard work on the training pitch.

The Scotland international says that his team-mates have been working towards achieving manager Tony Mowbray's ideas and that this effort is now paying dividends.

Celtic overcame Aberdeen 3-0 at Parkhead on Saturday after clocking up home wins against St Mirren and Hapoel Tel Aviv.

Tony Mowbray's side will be looking to continue to their run of form when they take on Motherwell at Fir Park on Saturday.

"We have been working hard in training and trying to implement the manager's ideas, so I think they are coming to the fore now," Gary Caldwell told the Celtic View.

"People are taking them on board and we are playing really well at the moment.

"I think it helps that we are getting the chance to work together.

"When anyone comes into a new job they know that they are going to have to put in a lot of work on the training ground.

"We are now getting the chance to do that and over the past week the performances and results have been great."

Celtic boss Tony Mowbray said his player's recent run of form had set a benchmark for the rest of the season.

"I don't want to shout from the rooftops when we get a result and then have to defend them when we don't reach those heights," he said.

"We have searched for consistency this season. The players stepped up to the mark on Saturday and played exceptionally well.

"They have set a benchmark in their consistency over the past week because I think they have reached the same heights in certain spells this season."
