Capital clubs make it best yet for finals
CLUBS from the Lothian Buses South East Region will feature in five of this season's Scottish Youth FA Challenge Cup Festival of Finals at Airdrie United FC's stadium at the beginning of May – the best representation ever from this region of Scotland.
Leith Athletic will have three teams in the finals, at under-14, under-16 and under-21, while Tynecastle will be represented at under-13 and under-15. Edinburgh City will also contest the under-16 showpiece.
The winners of the under-13 Scottish Challenge Cup will also go on to fly the flag for Scotland against clubs from the three other home countries in the Tesco's British Cup.
Tynecastle under-13s kick-off the seven finals on Saturday, May 2, at the Excelsior Stadium against Albion Boys' Club from Aberdeen at 1.00pm.
The next final sees Leith Athletic Colts play the famous Campsie Black Watch in the under-21 competition at 3.00pm.
No teams from the SERYFA will be in action on the following day, Sunday, May 3, when Easterhouse and Caledonian meet in the final of the under-17 age group at 1.00pm, and that will be followed at 3.00pm by the under-19 final, with Blantyre Victoria v Lochgelly Albert Colts kicking off at 3.00pm.
The kick-off times may be altered as all finals are played to a finish, with extra time and penalties if required to get a result.
The third day of finals in Airdrie on Sunday, May 10, will see Leith Athletic take on Dyce Boys' Club (Aberdeen) in the first of a trio on that day, the under-14 finale at 11.30am followed by Tynecastle v Linwood Rangers in the under-15s at 2.00pm.
Then Edinburgh City Under-16s will face Leith Athletic at 4.00pm.
It should be another stunning game to end this marvellous event organised by the SYFA.
