Blackburn gig for Colin Hendry
Colin Hendry is determined to help bring the good times back to Blackburn after returning to the club in a coaching capacity.
The 46-year-old, who has been out of football since 2008, has been officially unveiled as part of Steve Kean’s backroom staff having already contributed on the training pitch since Rovers’ return to pre-season training. Hendry’s return comes after he made 408 appearances for Blackburn in two spells at the club which included the famous Premier League title celebrations of 1995, before going on to manage both Blackpool and Clyde.
The former Scotland international defender told the club’s website: “It’s a great opportunity for me and for my family to move things on, and it’s all about getting back up into the Premier League – nothing else has been spoken about other than that.”
He added: “We’ve got a top coaching team here, with Steve (Kean), Eric Black and Iain Brunskill, so my role will be to dip into that, with a particular emphasis on the defence. I’ve been at the football club twice as a player and in those two periods I’ve always had success and I don’t intend for that to change now I’m here as a coach.”
