Berwick Rangers 2 - 0 Queen’s Park: Berwick dominate

FOURTH-placed Berwick Rangers took the corner route to defeat Queen’s Park 2-0 and secure their third consecutive win, with a five-point gap over the play-off chasing pack their reward.

Scorers: Berwick Rangers: Easton (60) Janczyk (76)

The Borderers’ success came in the second half when Dylan Easton netted directly from a flag kick before Neil Janczyk fired home after the Spiders failed to clear another dead ball. Shielfield had passed a pitch inspection but the bumpy surface did little to encourage flowing moves in the first half. Berwick dominated but Queen’s Park goalkeeper Neil Parry was rarely troubled.

The home team upped their game at the start of the second period and took the lead on the hour. Referee Allan Muir awarded a corner that the visitors believed was a goal-kick and their mood worsened when Easton’s dead ball eluded everyone and ended up in the net. It was game over 16 minutes later when another Easton corner caused panic and Janczyk took advantage to shoot home from the edge of the box.
