12-match ban for grabbing ref
EAST Stirling’s Ryan Frances will miss 12 matches after being found guilty of a series of misdemeanours by the Scottish Football Association’s Disciplinary Tribunal. The Shire defender was sent off in injury time in the Scottish Cup match against Buckie Thistle after conceding a penalty by lashing out at Chris Angus.
Barry Cook pointed to the spot before dismissing Frances, who reportedly grabbed the referee’s arm and had to be dragged away by his team-mates. The complaint of breach of Disciplinary Rule 201: “excessive misconduct involving violent conduct, dissent, the use of offensive, insulting and abusive language and the adoption of aggressive behaviour towards a match official” was upheld at Hampden yesterday.
