RANGERS manager Stuart McCall has confirmed Montenegrin defender Milos Milovic and former Hamburg midfielder Josef Shirdel are on trial with the club – but warned supporters not to get too excited.
The deadline for signing free agents passed on 31 March, so McCall cannot sign the pair for this season even if he wanted to.
He said: “The two lads are in training with us but there’s not much to it.
“They are in Britain right now so it’s a chance for us to take a look at them and if they do well, the club might take it forward later in the summer.”
McCall welcomes back defender Marius Zaliukas for tomorrow’s Championship clash with the Lithuanian’s former club Hearts.
Zaliukas missed last weekend’s 4-1 win over Cowdenbeath after starting for his national side as they lost 4-0 to England at Wembley the night before.
Seb Faure (knee), Richard Foster (hernia), Steven Smith (back), Tom Walsh (hamstring) and the Newcastle quartet of Kevin Mbabu (fitness issues), Gael Bigirimana (infection), Remie Streete (ear infection and muscle strain) and Shane Ferguson (knee) all remain on the sidelines, however.
McCall has watched his side pick up two draws and two wins since he took over the reins at Ibrox and has seen improvements in each match, but he insists there is no room for complacency against the champions.
He said: “I think it is changing, and it can do quickly, both for the better and the worse. Just when you think things are going well you can get slapped down so there’s no complacency from us.
“We’re in a better place than we have been. Training has been good again this week and I’ll have difficulty picking a side and I’ll be leaving players out which is good for a manager.
“It’s geared up to do the best we can on Sunday. We’re up against a good side but we want to keep the momentum going.”
