The Portuguese international was put through his paces at Auchenhowie alongside his team-mates under the watchful eye of manager Pedro Caixinha.

Alves was given time off to recuperate after representing Portugal at the Confederations Cup, and as a result of his involved he missed Rangers’ European exit to Luxembourg side Progres Niederkorn.

The 35-year-old was Caixinha’s first signing when he joined from Cagliari in late May.
