MOTHERWELL are considering a move for Kenny Shiels as they seek to fill the managerial vacancy created by Stuart McCall’s resignation.

It’s now over a month since McCall walked away from Fir Park and his erstwhile assistant, Kenny Black, has been in temporary charge since. However, it is understood the Motherwell board are now keen to speak to Shiels, who guided Kilmarnock to League Cup success in 2012.

Shiels, 58, is currently employed as director of the Forth Valley Football Academy after a short spell in charge of Morton.

Motherwell have struggled this season after back-to-back second-place finishes. They currently lie tenth in the Premiership, with just three wins in 14 games. They are two points above St Mirren and Ross County, and host Celtic on Saturday.
