Celtic eye huge sell-on fee

Celtic could be set for a major cash injection this summer thanks to the sell-on fee inserted into the transfer that took Jeremie Frimpong to Bayer Leverkusen three years ago. The right-back has been a massive hit in Germany having helped Xabi Alonso's side lift their first ever Bundesliga title at the weekend in a season where he has contributed eight goals and seven assists. Frimpong's form has attracted interest from the English Premier League with Manchester United strongly linked with a move for the 23-year-old Dutch international, who is reported to have a release clause of £35m. Should the German champions sell him for that amount this summer that could see Celtic receive a payment somewhere in the region of £7m, with reports suggesting the Parkhead side are due 30 per centof any profit made on the £11.5m Leverkusen spent securing his services in January 2021.

Jimmy Thelin has promised to bring attacking football to Pittodrie in his first interview since being appointed Aberdeen manager. The 46-year-old Swede was confirmed as the Dons new head coach on Tuesday and will start in the summer after six successful years with Elfsborg, whom he twice guided to a runners-up finish in the Allsvenskan. Speaking to Aberdeen TV, Thelin said: "The main idea is to have an attacking philosophy that the fans will see and feel on the pitch. We want the fans to live it so is quite intense. We always defend in a block and do everything together and then work really really hard to create chances. I really feel like this is a perfect match, The timing is good and hopefully with the staff and everyone around the club we can become a part of their history."

Rangers will be without a number of first-team players when they travel to Dundee on Wednesday night. The twice postponed Scottish Premiership fixture is set to go ahead at the third time of asking, but Rangers will have to make do without the services of up to six players for the pivotal clash. The Ibrox side will be looking to bounce back from their weekend defeat to Ross County and close the gap on Celtic at the top of the table to one point ahead of the final five fixtures. Danilo and Oscar Cortes are likely to remain out for the rest of the season while Ryan Jack's calf problem continues to keep him sidelined. Mohamed Diomade will also miss the trip to Dens Park following surgery on a broken thumb, while Ridvan Yilmaz has yet to recover from the knock he picked up last month. In addition, Leon Balogun is a doubt due to illness.
