Falkirk may have endured a stuttering start to the 2014/15 season, but any notion of them becoming embroiled in the relegation dogfight was dismissed with this emphatic victory over bottom placed Cowdenbeath, writes Craig Fowler at Falkirk Stadium.
It began as quickly as the fourth minute when David Smith, who was sensational in a blistering first half, sprinted around Iain Campbell before picking out Rory Loy with a low cross which the striker flicked in.
Smith was also responsible for the second as his free-kick from the left evaded everyone in the box and bounced into the net, followed 15 minutes later with a cool finish by Alex Cooper.
Cowdenbeath completed their calamitous defending bingo sheet by allowing two easy goals from set-pieces either side of the interval. First Peter Grant rifled home a loose ball following a poor clearance, before David McCracken scored a simple close range header.
Vaulks’ unstoppable 25-yard drive finished the scoring.
