Celtic left-back Emilio Izaguirre scored for Honduras in their World Cup qualifying win over Trinidad and Tobago.

Izaguirre, who is back in the Celtic team following an injury to Kieran Tierney, put Honduras in front after 19 minutes. Eddie Hernandez sealed the win with ten minues to go.

It is the first points of the campaign for Honduras.

The United States are in danger of failing to qualify for a World Cup for the first time since 1986 after losing 4-0 in Costa Rica.

The US were beaten by Mexico in the CONCACAF round five opener, and now find themselves pointless and bottom of the group after two games.

Johan Venegas gave Costa Rica the lead two minutes before half-time, and Jurgen Klinsmann’s side capitulated late on as Christian Bolanos scored in the 69th minute and on-loan Arsenal forward Joel Campbell bagged a three-minute brace to complete the rout.

The win sees Costa Rica top the six-team table with the only perfect record after two rounds of games.

Mexico lie second after a goalless draw with third-placed Panama.
