FOUNDED by a British professor in 1906, Fola Esch play their home games at the 3,900-capacity Stade Émile Mayrisch, in south-western Luxembourg.
Having appeared in Europe for the first time in the 1973/74 season, Fola Esch rejected a merger with larger neighbours Jeunesse Esch during the 1990s.
Fola Esch have won the Luxembourg Cup three times - most recently in 1954/55 - and have won the National Division seven times.
After an 11-1 aggregate loss at the hands of Bulgarian side Beroe Stara Zagora in 1973/74, Fola Esch’s next foray in to Europe was in the 2011/12 season, where they lost 5-1 on aggregate to Elfsborg in the Europa League first qualifying round.
Further disappointments against Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League qualifiers (6-0 aggregate loss), and Gothenburg in the Europa League qualifiers the following year (2-0 aggregate loss) and a 4-1 aggregate loss to Dinamo again in the 2015/16 Champions League qualifiers.
Co-managed by former Borussia Monchengladbach and Luxembourg international Jeff Strasser and ex-Metz midfielder Cyril Serredszum, Fola Esch can call on Samir Hadji, the son of former Morocco international Mustapha Hadji along with Cape Verdean veteran Ronny.
