STEVIE May today signed a four- year deal with Sheffield Wednesday.
The Owls were locked in an £800,000 tug o’ war with near neighbours Rotherham United for the 21-year-old St Johnstone striker.
Millers boss Steve Evans had been in pole position after tracking May since November.
He had a bid accepted before Championship rivals Wednesday upper their own offer after selling attacker Michail Antonio to Nottingham Forest for £1.5 million.
St Johnstone chairman Steve Brown left it to the player to make the call and he opted to join Wednesday after manager Stuart Gray sold him on the Owls.
