Newtongrange STAR boss Alan Miller insists “the hard work is just beginning” after his side were crowned McBookie.com East Premier League champions.
Star had secured a return to the Super League three weeks ago when they completed their programme but were made to wait to see if they’d go up as champs. That news came on Saturday as second-placed Ballingry Rovers lost 4-1 to Armadale Thistle.
While delighted to be confirmed as the best team in the division, Star boss Miller says his club won’t rest on their laurels as they prepare for a return to the top flight.
He said: “It’s a fantastic achievement for the whole club because it’s not just about the players but everyone associated with Newtongrange, from the people who wash the strips to the people who do the weeding around the ground.
“Overall, this season has been superb. We reached the League Cup final and are still in with a shout at the East of Scotland Cup.
“We’ve been two years in the Premier League, but now we can start to prepare for the Super League.
“There’s a lot of hard work to do, but hard work has been our ethic this season.”
