Wotherspoon out to banish bad Dingwall memory

David Wotherspoon: determined to banish Dingwall memories

HIBS midfielder David Wotherspoon is determined to banish the memory of the Easter Road club’s only trip to Dingwall when they face Ross County in the SPL this weekend.

Wotherspoon was part
of the Hibees side when they were dumped out of the
Scottish Cup quarter-finals in 2010.

John Hughes’s side were held to a draw on their own patch by County in the March of that year before losing out 2-1 in a replay ten days later.

The shock result was a huge disappointment for both players and supporters, and Saturday’s trip north will be the first time Hibs have had a chance to seek revenge against newly promoted County.

Wotherspoon said: “We
know that we need to go there and put in a really good
performance if we want to take the points.

“They’re a good side and obviously the distance that you have to travel makes it even more
difficult.

“This season already we have learned our lessons of travelling a distance and not performing, as everyone saw in the League Cup defeat against Queen of the South.

“We know that is something that we need to look out for again and do everything that we can to make sure that we perform the way that we know we can.

“When we went out of the cup to Ross County a couple of years ago I just remember the disappointment that we felt at the end of those two games and it was a horrible feeling not to get through.

“But that was a couple of years ago now and we are in a completely different situation, but the boys should still take all of that into account and just focus on putting in a really good performance.”
