Wolves dig in over Fletcher
Wolves insist record signing Steven Fletcher will not be allowed to leave unless their valuation of the player is met after the former Hibs striker handed in a written transfer request.
Sunderland are understood to have made an improved £12million bid for 25-year-old Fletcher, who scored 12 Barclays Premier League goals last season.
Fletcher, who signed from Burnley for £7million two years ago, presented his written request to Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey and manager Stale Solbakken at the club’s training ground yesterday.
Wolves have confirmed Fletcher’s desire to leave but are determined not to let him go below what they feel is the market value. Winger Michael Kightly has left to join Stoke while former Hearts defender Christophe Berra asked to quit last week.
