Hibs first pre-season match against Romanian side Rapid Bucharest, which was due to have taken place at the Grangemouth Stadium tonight, has been cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch.

Supporters who bought tickets for the game have 14 days to claim a full refund. Full details are on the club’s web-site.

A pitch inspection was carried out earlier today but conditions were found to be too poor for the match.

The Romanian side finished fourth in their domestic league last season, and are in Scotland in preparation for their Europa League campaign.

Rapid previously notched up a 5-2 win against Morton before Scotland was battered by severe weather.

Next week Hibs will play four matches on the continent, facing Belgian sides Lierse SK and OHV Leuven, before heading to Holland to play a Zeeland Select side. Hibs will then head to Germany to meet Union Berlin.

Afterwards, Hibs return home to face Championship new boys Huddersfield at Easter Road.

Pat Fenlon said: “It’s a tough tour, fairly go, go, go, not start-stop. We’ve a good schedule in relation to training and games, we’re on the move all the time and that’s what I wanted, I don’t want us sitting around waiting for things.”
